"Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Okay, who has time for that? Everyone does, once you put it in perspective. Brother Lawrence, a 17th century monk wrote that remaining in the presence of Almighty God didn't mean withdrawing from the world. To him, it meant redeeming every routine in our life and turning it into a prayer. According to Brother Lawrence, "The time of business does not with me differ from the time of prayer; and in the noise and clatter of my kitchen...I possess God in as great tranquility as if I were upon my knees at the blessed sacrament."

What can we do? For starters, we can pray for people before and after we meet with them. We can ask for God's favor, discernment and grace as we meet. Then, after we leave, we can pray a blessing on them. We can live in a constant spirit of prayer and as we seek to do that, we will see God working in our lives as never before. Maybe praying without ceasing isn't that hard!

Pray today for our church as we prepare to cross the Jordan into the Community Life Center. Every time God brings it to mind, pray for our guests, our greeters, our Praise Team, the CLC planning team, the Gathering Grounds team and pray for the ministry that will take place in the CLC. God is bringing us all together for His divine purpose. Pray that we see and understand His purpose for us as we engage and serve our community.
